Dr. Imoh Imeh Johnny

Dr. Imoh Imeh Johnny is a distinguished academic, researcher, and entrepreneur specialising in Pharmacognosy and Natural Medicine. He currently serves as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom, where he has devoted his career to the study of medicinal plants, exploring their pharmacognostic properties and therapeutic potentials.

With a strong academic foundation, Dr. Johnny earned a BSc in Botany from the University of Uyo in 2008. He went on to obtain an MSc in Pharmacognosy in 2014 and subsequently a PhD in Pharmacognosy and Natural Medicine in 2021. His academic trajectory reflects his unwavering commitment to biosystematics, pharmacognostic evaluation, and the standardisation of medicinal plants.

A prolific researcher, Dr. Johnny has authored 75 scientific publications in both local and international journals, garnering over 39,995 reads and 515 citations. His 785-page book, "Plants in Herbal Medicine: Their Traditional Uses, Chemistry and Biology", documents 404 indigenous plants, underlining his dedication to preserving and validating traditional knowledge.

Dr. Johnny is a respected member of the Botanical Society of Nigeria (BOSON) and the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP). He also plays a key industry role as Head of Products Research, Formulation, and Development, and Production Manager for the South-South Zone at MultiStream™ Ltd, producers of Jinja Herbal Bitters.

In academia, he has supervised numerous undergraduate projects and co-supervised postgraduate (MSc and PhD) research in the Departments of Botany and Ecological Studies and the Faculty of Pharmacy. He is actively involved in teaching, mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaborations. He presented a Public Lecture titled "Herbs for Health" — the 2nd Public Lecture in the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Uyo — which attracted significant attention to the University community.

His research contributions have gained international recognition, with citations from scholars around the world validating the scientific significance of his findings.
